Waiheke Walking Festival

November 15, 2016Linda AndersonFITNESS & WELLBEING, TRAVELNo Comments

I am blessed to live on an island filled with amazing walking tracks. They follow the coast, cut through vineyards, lead you to waterfalls or just help you cut across a hill. I love heading out to explore new tracks, either alone or with the kids.

The Waiheke Walking Festival starts on the 19th November and this awesome event attracts visitors from far and wide to come and appreciate this beautiful island on foot. The walks are all free and cater for all levels of fitness and interests. I have registered our family to do a “family walk” during the festival which I am very excited about.

Recently I was privileged enough to do one of the most popular walks in the festival with about 40 women from a local networking group. Starting at Stony Batter the walk was around 11km through some spectacular land.

One of the special things about the Walking Festival walks is you often get access to tracks running through private land which means this is the only time you will ever get to see these amazing places.

Here are a couple of photos I took along the way:

Beautiful isn’t it?

The Waiheke Walking Festival is an annual event so even if you can’t come across this year get on the mailing list and make sure you come next year!
