Three things I wish I had known at the beginning

If you could go back and tell yourself three things at the start of your motherhood journey what would they be?

For me they would be:

1. ASK FOR HELP

Ask sooner. Ask more often. Ask without guilt or judgement. When someone offers help, just say YES.

2. YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE PERFECT

This applies to everything: parenting, self care, meals, what clothes you wear!  Nothing has to be perfect. You can still be amazing in all the imperfection.

3. THE ROAD IS LONG

Motherhood is a marathon not a sprint. The challenges, the exhaustion, the learning … it doesn’t stop when you baby is 6 months, one year or even two years. I am nearly 11 years into this journey. The challenges are simply different now, what fuels my exhaustion has changed, and I am still learning so much every single day.
