I had a coaching session this week with a Mum who is expecting her second child. She had a lot of questions about how to juggle a whole lot of things in life with a toddler and a newborn. Yep … I remember those days like it was yesterday!
One of her questions was “How do you keep on top of the household chores when I barely feels like I keep on top now?”
My answer …. YOU DON’T! That is not the stuff that matters when you are coming to terms with being a Mum of a toddler and a newborn. It just does not matter.
Having a tidy/clean house does not make you a better Mum, a better wife, a better woman. When you have the capacity and energy – go for your life being on top of the chores. I can promise you those early months juggling two little ones is NOT a time you will have capacity. So just let go of the expectation … just let go. Ask for help. Surrender.
I can assure you that this is not the only time in life I give this advice. I have been sick for 2 weeks, my husband is overseas and my four year old comes to my bed every night. I am exhausted. As a result my house looks like a bomb went off. I don’t like it … but seriously, right now … it just DOES NOT MATTER. Especially as my very tidy husband is not here! LOL
This is my house right now:
Is there something you need to let go of right now in order to be a calmer, happier or healthier woman?
