For years I have been travelling with kids and struggling with sleeping arrangements during that tricky age between about 2-3.5 years. The age where a child is too big for a portacot but still moves around too much to sleep well and safely in a bed.
We were forever having to rearrange a bedroom to put a mattress on the floor, against a wall and then find excess pillows to put along side for when my girls would inevitably roll out of bed during the night. More than once have I gone to check on them in the night to discover them in the middle of the room sleeping on the floor!
The Shrunks make some awesome travel products for kids. I have fallen in love with 2 products that have changed travel life for us … an inflatable bed rail and a toddler travel bed.
Disclaimer: I am not being sponsored by Shrunk in any way for this post … in fact they don’t even know I exist. I purchased their products online and love them so much I just had to share with you!!
INFLATABLE BED RAIL
This is the perfect solution when you are staying in hotels or holiday houses that have single beds available for your kids but your child normally sleeps with a bed rail at home.
The bed rail comes in its own bag with an air pump.
It takes up very little room in the suitcase.
When you inflate it it turns into a triangular rail which runs the length of the bed. Note: there are safety instructions enclosed about how much room to leave between top of bed and start of rail to ensure safe sleeping.
It has these velvety strips underneath to help it grip on the mattress and not move around. You place it on mattress and then put fitted single sheet over the top of it and continue making bed as usual. Simple!
If you want to buy Shrunks products you need to buy online (I have never seen them in stores) – this is the site I bought them from – again, I am not being sponsored by this site to share their link but they were best value online for Shrunk products so I am sharing with you.
Do you have other great toddler travel essentials? I would love to hear about them.
