#selfcaresunday – January 2016
#selfcaresunday has been created to inspire you to take 5 minutes each Sunday to care for yourself. You can signup for the weekly emails HERE but I will also publish a month “review” blog post to ensure you can always find this inspiration again.
The #selfcaresunday theme for January was ‘Connecting with Nature”.
Week 1 – #getgrounded in nature
- Take your shoes off & enjoy the energy of the earth beneath you
- stand still & breathe deeply,
- or take a walk and let the earth massage your feet.
Whatever feels best for you.
You might:
- Stand on your back lawn while the kids are playing inside
- Take a walk on a beach
- Stand on some big rocks in a local park
Week 2 – #findatree … and then lie under it for 5 minutes!
- This tree could in your garden, a local park or perched high on a hill
- you can lie eyes open or closed
- you can take a blanket/towel or just lie on the grass
Whatever feels best for you.
You might:
- Take a book or magazine and read for 5 minutes
- watch the clouds roll by and let your mind drift
- meditate
- have a quick nap
Week 3 – #sneakintothegarden
Wait for a moment when the kids are playing happily or the baby is sleeping. Instead of unloading the dishwasher head outside for 5 minutes.
You might:
- Take a book or magazine and read for 5 minutes
- take a cup of tea outside while you enjoy the quiet
- pick some vegetables or herbs
- meditate
Whatever feels best for you.
Week 4 – #explore
We are creatures of habit and routine. See if you can grab 5 minutes, 15 minutes, or as many minutes as you can and #explore.
You might:
- visit a suburb you have never been to and explore the shops
- go to a new cafe for a coffee
- visit a park you have never been to
- turn left instead of right
