Beautiful Mama … I am inviting you to join me for a very special conversation. I am inviting you to join the Mama Rising Book Club.
In recent years I have undertaken training with Amy Taylor-Kabbaz, author of Mama Rising, who helped light a fire in my belly to create open, honest, supportive conversations with mothers about their experience of matrescence.
*Matrescence is the complete transformation and identity shift of a woman as she moves through motherhood - psychological, social, emotional, physical, economic, cultural and spiritual.*
In our modern world we have neglected to support and prepare a woman for the significant changes she will experience within herself when the mother is born. This transition from woman to mother is profound, and yet generations of women have been left to navigate this part of their journey alone. It is time for this to change.
Mothers all over the world struggle with:
- guilt
- losing their identity
- feeling isolated
- and so much more …
The aim and intent of the Mama Rising Book Club is:
- to create a safe and supportive environment to make peace with the transition you have been going through
- to create a space for healing to occur
- to provide knowledge and context for your experience of motherhood
- give you a space for your voice to be heard and your story to be honoured and valued

It made me aware of what I need and deserve.
Erin - mum of 2
Deep diving into ‘Mama Rising’ was just what I needed to help guide and discover myself as not only a mother, but also a woman. It made me aware of what I need and deserve.
It’s one thing to read a book like this, but to be able to share it with other mothers also navigating the journey of motherhood, along with the support and expertise provided by Linda, was perfect.
The journey is of course not over and I look forward to referring back to what I’ve learnt in this 10 weeks whenever I need to.

Below is a beautiful and insightful conversation with Amy Taylor-Kabbatz, author of the book 'Mama Rising'. We discuss what matrescence is, why Amy wrote her book, and why the Mama Rising Book Club has the potential to change the experience of motherhood.
HOW DOES THE BOOK CLUB WORK?
There are 10 chapters in the book. Each week we will read a chapter of the book and use it as the basis of our explorations. I will provide you with a set of questions to use as prompts each week – you may wish to do some written reflections as well as take part in group reflections.
The group sessions will be a mix of self exploration, coaching, and the sharing of stories.
I will also create a Facebook group for the duration of the book club program to give you a space to share and reflect in between sessions.
YOU NEED A COPY OF MAMA RISING TO PARTICIPATE
Stating the obvious here but I recommend ordering this early to be sure you have before the program starts. It is available as a paperback or ebook. Please let me know if you need help with where to purchase. Booktopia is a good start for Australia and NZ. And if, like me, you don't own a Kindle or other ebook reader you can download Mama Rising via Google Books

Support and insights from the group were my favourite part.
caitlin - mum of 2
Linda does a fantastic job of guiding mamas with both book content and real life examples to make it relevant and personal. The support and insights from the rest of the group were one of my favourite parts of the Book Club.

I am stronger, more empowered and excited about what is possible.
lisa - mum of 2
Being a part of the book club gave me a sense of community and support while learning and exploring the journey of motherhood through the chapters. I am stronger, more empowered and excited about what’s possible, simply by spending the time looking more deeply into the content with Linda and the other members of our book club. |

Yes you do. Either hardcopy or ebook version is fine.
Absolutely! Life happens, kids happen ...
I will be recording each session and making the recording available for a week to allow you to catch up if you don't make it in person.
Yes! the joy of Zoom is that we can mute you if background noise is an issue. I have has mums in this bookclub who have needed to breastfeed on the call, feed their toddler lunch, turn off their camera while they pat a baby to sleep ...
We are all mums and we will all support you if you need to juggle a little one during the call.
PS - obviously if you can manage to be child free that will be best for YOU but don't let you baby/child be a reason to not to join us
Nope.
Most mums join the Facebook group as a way of connecting in between sessions but it 100% your choice.
