Introducing – Christie Lyons
I connected with Christie in a Facebook Group for women in business. She had recently published a book and the title of it, ‘More than a mum’ resonated with me. I invited Christie to connect with me so that I could learn more about her and share this with you …
1. Can you tell me a little about you and your family?
I am a (recent) single Mum of three amazing children, a publisher, writer and lightworker, and am the founder of White Light Publishing House.
Previously a childcare centre director, I have several years’ experience and hold qualifications in early childhood education, and I’m still very passionate about children’s rights and emotional well-being.
All three of my children are Empaths, as am I, and while this means that we are all very sensitive to each others’ energies and those around us, it also means that we are extremely connected and compassionate – not only as a family unit, but to al of humanity as well. To say I’m proud of my children is an understatement – they are my world and each of them teach me in magnificent ways every single day.
2. What is your favourite thing to do for “me time”?
When I’m not working or spending time with my family (yes, I have learnt to schedule in ‘me time’) I get lost in my writing or reading one of the hundreds of books I have on my shelf. Recently, I have also been researching and delving into my family’s ancestry, which has been incredibly eye opening and therapeutic for me.
3. You recently published a book called ‘More Than a Mum’ – what inspired you to write that?
‘More than a Mum’ is a collaboration of more than twenty women’s personal stories of how they thrive while being both mums and business owners. I was inspired to put this book together as I am part of the AusMumpreneur network (who are amazing by the way) which means that I’m surrounded by truly incredible women on a regular basis. I wanted to help inspire other mums to follow their passions and know that it is not only possible, but very achievable.
4. How do you juggle business & being a Mum?
Being a Mum and business owner is not without its challenges, however I wouldn’t have it any other way. I work from home, which means that I have the flexibility to have my children home with me on days when they’re not at daycare or school, and I set my own pace when it comes to work hours. My beautiful Mum now works with me on full time basis also (bless her), as I couldn’t keep up with the growth of the business on my own. As White Light grows, I’m sure we will need to expand our team along with it.
5. What are you most grateful for at this point in your life?
I am so very grateful to have such a wonderful range of support – not only from family and friends, but from other mums and the beautiful community of souls on my Facebook page as well.
My goal has always been to help bring as much light into the world as I can through my writing, spiritual guidance and in helping writers and artists’ publishing dreams come true. I am already doing all of the above; and for that, I am truly blessed.
My gratitude to Christie for sharing her story.
