Introducing – Amit Bar

July 11, 2017Linda AndersonINSPIRATIONAL MUMSNo Comments

I met Amit recently in a Facebook Group for online businesses. We struck up a conversation and realised we both have a great passion for travel. I decided to get to know Amit a little better by interviewing her. I hope you enjoy meeting her as much as I have ….

1. Can you tell me a little about you and your family?

We are a family of 3 and a dog.
Love is in the air | The hubby and I met in kindergarten, he might have known I will be his wife but I had no idea. At the age of 20 he asked me to be his girlfriend and after a few months I agreed and the rest is history.

The big world | After about 2 years we decided we have to travel and went to our South America trip. We have been to Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia and Peru. We came back to Israel, worked a bit and had to travel again this time our journey was to East Asia – Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and China.

What Should You Be When You Grow Up? | After returning to Israel we went to university and adopted our small black dog named Shifra and she instantly became a family member. I graduated after 4 years a BSc. in Materials Science and engineering with high honors, and worked in the field for 3 years. On our last year in university, after about 8 great years together we got engaged.
And then there were 4 | We bought our home and had our cute little BOY – Inbar, a mini “copy paste” of his father, with adorable GOLD CURLES and a charming chin DIMPLE. My life has changed. I quit my nine to five job and opened up my ETSY shop.

2. I know you love to travel – how has travel changed since having children?

I don’t think our travel changed due to us having a child. It did change because we grew up and have jobs and obligations so it is more complicated to leave it all for long periods of time, like we did when we were younger. But I definitely want to travel again for a big period of time without planning each day and just going with the flow.

3. What place in the world would you most like to travel to?

Africa! On the end of our China journey we already decided that our next “big” trip will be to Africa. So that’s where we headed next. We want to travel for a few months or a year, rent a 4X4 and just ride. South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and more. Until the Africa journey will be possible, we travel here in Israel – There are lots of beautiful places to travel in our country.

4. You have an Etsy Store – I love Barushka – what inspired you to start that?

Preparing my baby boy’s nursery room was exciting. It allowed me to bring out the best in me for my special little one. I bought T-shirt yarn, crocheted a basket and a round rug. I bought embroidery hoops and fabrics, I trimmed, I crafted, and I felt my true inner self. All of my dreams and creativity popped out. The need to be at home and do things that will fill my HEART and make me feel fulfilled was stronger than ever. I decided I will do it – CREATE SMILE DREAM | I opened my ETSY shop – ILoveBarushka I CREATE MY DREAMS WHILE SMILING

ILoveBarushka is all about making your home the place you want to wake up in the morning and come back to at the end of the day | Beautiful home decor storage baskets and embroidery hoop wall art for every room: nursery, kids, living room, bath, home office etc. | HANDMADE with LOVE by me.

5. What is your favourite thing to do for “me time”?

For my “me time” I love to workout What?! LOVE to WORK OUT?! Well lately I am having lower back pains, which is really annoying and since I decided to take it to my own hands and make sure the pain goes away I am enjoying my sports time. In my spare time I also love to read books, see movies and make lots of DIY projects usually for gifts and birthday greetings.

6. How do you make this actually happen?

Hard work! Meeting and engaging with lots of people to let them know all about me and my brand. Making sure I have lots of family time which fills me up and makes me move forward.

7. How do you juggle running your business & being a Mum?

Keeping up small “rituals” that we don’t give up on, even when it gets very busy. A family dinner, reading a bedtime story, time with grandparents, weekend family fun and more

8. What are you most grateful for at this point in your life?

I am in a point in my life where I feel like everything is open for me. The possibilities are endless and I don’t even need to choose because I can do it all. It’s a great feeling!

I really appreciate Amit taking the time to answer my questions. Enjoy browsing her Etsy store … or visit her Facebook page to connect.

I decided to write my ocean swim events on the kit I decided to write my ocean swim events on the kitchen chalkboard. Partly to remind myself that I need to do more training if I have any hope of swimming 3km+ in 6 weeks time and partly to make these events more visable for the family. Otherwise they will all act like they had no idea I am heading away for some of these!
